Wasps are one of the most persistent, mobs in the Erebus. They spawn in Underground Jungles , Elysian Fields and Subterranean Savannahs , but their AI often leads them to spread into adjacent biomes, making encounters possible virtually anywhere in the Erebus. Wasp Nests , roof -mounted dungeons that spawn Wasps, can be found in Underground Jungles. Breaking the spawner may reward you with a powerful Wasp Sword .

It is recommended you avoid Wasps until you have better-than-decent gear, if you can. They deal two hearts of damage in one hit and inflict Poison for 10 seconds. Furthermore, they can fly, and are more persistent than Botflies when it comes to pursuing the player.

If you are being chased by one and are lucky enough to have cobwebs via Shears or Dungeon Chest, place them down to immobilize them in their tracks to escape or kill them.

With the addition of Solifuge Babies and the triumphant return of the Bombardier Beetle , Wasps are now bumped to the title of the 3rd most dangerous normal mob in the Erebus.

Trivia[]

  • The model was made by Dave (Vadis365).
  • Before 0.1.1, it had a bigger model. It was downsized to make it behave better.
  • It, according to Dylan, makes the sounds of a motorcycle.
  • It hunts down Grasshopper when it is in a Subterranean Savannah .
  • As of 0.1.2, it also hunts down Beetle Larvae  and Beetles

Hornet of Despair[]

Unlucky souls might stray into the path of one of these miniboss Wasp variants. Hornets of Despair rarely spawn in place of regular Wasps, and can themselves rarely spawn with the name "Livid's Bane" or "Nano's Nemesis" rather than "Hornet of Despair" (As a little nod to Duncan and Kim of the Yogscast).

Sporting twice the bulk of a standard Wasp and bright red stripes instead of yellow, these hulking packages of pure malice are potentially more dangerous than a Solifuge , depending on the situation. Like Wasps, they inflict Poison, but deal 50% more damage outright; three hearts instead of two, and feature more than twice the health.

Unlike their smaller siblings, however, they have a twisted, kind heart; killing a Hornet of Despair rewards you with an Anti-Venom Bottle , as well as the standard Wasp drop of 0-2 Wasp Stings .
